WELCOME TO THE GUESTS

Welcome.  Brian and Lorena wish to welcome you on this joyous occasion to celebrate their love for one another as they exchange wedding vows and become husband and wife.

They wish to acknowledge you and thank you for being here today.  For your love, for your support, and for your presence here today to witness their wedding vows.

INTRODUCTION:

Lorena and Brian, we gather here today to celebrate your love for each other by exchanging wedding vows and becoming husband and wife.

Marriage is a serious commitment that you are making to each other in front of these witnesses.  You are making promises to each other to love, honor, cherish, and to be faithful to one another, with the intent that this marriage is to last a lifetime.

Growing old together:

Before you exchange vows, I have a wish for the two of you.  And my wish comes with a little story:

Sometimes when you walk on the beach, or in a park, or you’re in a restaurant, you’ll see an old couple together.  They may not be talking.  They may just be walking, quite slowly, hand-in-hand.  You might see them on a dance floor, moving together as though they were one.

You can tell at a glance that they’ve been together for many years.

You know that they’ve had heartbreak and sadness in their life, incredible joy, and sorrow as well, but there they are – together – after all those years. They’ve been steady.  They’ve honored their commitment, the promises they made on their wedding day – to stick it out, come what may.

This is my wish for you.  Fifty years from now, I want to see the two of you walking on the beach, holding hands – and I will know with just one glance that you’ve been true to your wedding promises – that you’ve been there for each other, loving each other, supporting each other, come what may.  I want you to be that old couple.

That’s what marriage is about.  It’s about the future – your future together.

POEM RECITATION By (Please email the name of your friend.)

Two BIRDS meeting in the sky
Two loves hand in hand eye to eye
Two parts of a loving whole
Two hearts and a single soul
Two stars shining big and bright
Two fires bringing warmth and light
Two songs play in perfect tune
Two flowers growing into bloom
Two BIRDS gliding in the air
Two loves free without a care
Two parts of a loving whole
Two hearts and a single soul

And now, for the vows.  Brian and Lorena, will you together, repeat after me

The vows I take will be forever

I’ll love you all my life

There’s no part way, no holding back

Once we are man and wife.

Lorena, do you promise to love, honor, and cherish Brian for the rest of your days?

                Lorena says, “I do”

Brian, look into the eyes of your one true love, and repeat after me:

Lorena, today I take you to be my wife.

Together we will create a home,

Completing one another.

I vow to help create a life that we can cherish,

inspiring your love for me,

and mine for you.

I vow to be honest, caring and truthful,

to love you as you are

and not as I want you to be,

and to grow old by your side

as your love and best friend.

Lorena, look into the eyes of your one true love, and repeat after me:

Brian, today I take you to be my husband.

Together we will create a home,

Brian and Lorena,

Then if you'll have, and if you'll hold,

From now until you’re really old,

And if you'll love through good and bad,

And whether you are glad or sad,

And love in sickness, and in health,

And when you're poor, and when in wealth,

And if you'll love with all your hearts,

From now until death you do part,

And love each other through and through,

Please answer with these words, “I do!”                             (“I do”)
