Presentation of the Bride by the person escorting her:

Who presents this woman to be married to this man?

Your brother: “I do.”

On behalf of Jazmine and Viliame, I welcome all of you, and am elated that you could join us for this marriage celebration. We are here today to encourage, celebrate, and support the covenant these two special people are preparing to make. The marriage they are creating here has roots in themselves, and the love, friendship, and guidance each of you has offered them. They have asked you to be with them here today, because you are a community of loved ones. We rejoice in the ways life has led them to each other and brought them to the place where they now stand.

And now, a cherished reading from 1st Corinthians:

Love is patient and kind, it is never jealous.

Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish.

It does not take offense and is not resentful.

Love takes no pleasure in other people’s faults, but delights in the truth.

It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope.

It is always ready to endure whatever comes.

True love does not come to an end.

Intention

Jazmine and Viliame, we gather here today to celebrate your love for each other by exchanging wedding vows and becoming husband and wife.

Marriage is a serious commitment that you are making to each other in front of these witnesses. You are making promises to each other to love, honor, cherish, and to be faithful to one another, with the intent that this marriage is to last a lifetime.

Marriage Vows:

Do you, Viliame, take Jazmine to be your lawful wedded wife?

I do.

Do you promise to love and cherish her, in sickness and in health, for richer for poorer, for better for worse, and forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto her, for so long as you both shall live?

I do.

Do you, Jazmine, take Viliame to be your lawful wedded husband?

I do.

Do you promise to love and cherish him, in sickness and in health, for richer for poorer, for better for worse, and forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto her, for so long as you both shall live?

I do.

Ring Exchange

The wedding ring is a symbol of unity, a circle unbroken, without beginning or end. Today, Viliame and Jazmine give and receive these rings as confirmations of their vows to join their lives, to work at all times to create a life that is whole and unbroken, and to love each other without end.

Viliame, will you please place the ring on Jazmine’s finger and repeat after me:

With this ring I thee wed

With this ring I thee wed

I give you my hand and my heart

I give you my hand and my heart

Jazmine, please place the ring on Viliame’s finger and repeat after me:

With this ring I thee wed

With this ring I thee wed

I give you my hand and my heart

I give you my hand and my heart

Unity Candle Ceremony

I invite the mothers of Jazmine and Viliame to come forward to light their family candles.

The lighting of the center candle represents not only the union of Jazmine and Viliame in marriage, but the unity formed in this new family in which your lives will now shine as one family.

Now, Jazmine and Viliame will commemorate their marriage by lighting a Unity Candle (you two walk over to the candles)

Light is the essence of our existence. Each one of us possesses an inner glow that represents our hopes, our dreams and aspirations in life.

Viliame and Jazmine, the two distinct candle flames represent your lives before this day, individual, unique and special. Please take the candle symbolizing your life before today, and together light the center candle to symbolize the union of your individual lives. (Place the tapers back into their holders—join hands and remain near the candles) As this new flame burns undivided, so shall your lives now be one. From now on your thoughts will always be for each other rather than just your individual selves. Your plans will be mutual, your joys and sorrows both will be shared alike.

Although you are now entering into a marriage relationship, you do not, however, lose your personal identity. Rather, you will use your special individuality to create and strengthen the relationship of marriage. Therefore all three candles remain glowing. The individual candles represent all that makes each of you the wonderful and unique person the other admires and respects. The Unity candle in the center symbolizes the union of your lives, families, and friends, as well as your shining commitment to each other, and to a lasting and loving marriage.
***I will motion you to follow me back to the alter (or wherever we do the ceremony.)

Viliame and Jazmine, remember the love that brought you here today, as it is love which makes yours a glorious union, and by love which your marriage shall endure.

May God bless and watch over this marriage.

Pronouncement After the Marriage Vows:
